BIM + Virtual Reality!
It was a pleasure to have Nadine, Chris and Jim from CONNSWATER with us yesterday to review project finishes using our VR and BIM software. Our BIM model and VR walkabouts aid the design discussions between client and design team, ultimately delivering a better final building.
If you are interested in how our BIM processes and VR can be used to aid the design and construction process; please get in touch.

During this difficult time we all find ourselves in, business continuity is critical. Not only to keep our business going but to ensure there are projects ready to move to site once this is all over!
Doherty Architects continues to follow government guidelines with our employees already having made the switch to remote working for the last few weeks. As you can see we've all got our own setup at home sorted!
We would like to thank our employees and clients for their continued understanding in keeping people safe!
If you would like to discuss any projects, current or new please get in touch!
Frequently Asked Questions and their Answers, Free download!
We typically get asked the same questions as architects over and over.
Questions such as,
How do i know if Iām working with a registered Architect?
Do I need an Architect?
How do i write a brief? (What is a brief?)
Should I expect to pay for the first meeting?
How much does it cost?
What is the project process I will go through?
All of these questions and more are answered in an incredibly useful document created by the RIBA, (Royal Institute for British Architects.)
Design ID Lecture 'Lean Design, the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and Us'
We attended Design ID's interesting lecture and panel discussion last night on the importance of carbon reduction creating a sustainable development within construction. The importance of construction within UN's 17 sustainable development goals, (SDGs) was highlighted, bringing home the importance of our choices as designers and their significant effects on the carbon footprint of the buildings we design.
We were delighted to see one of our award winning projects used as an exemplar within DesignID's presentation. Having worked collaboratively with DesignID on the Creative Industries Building, the design team achieved a reduction in carbon usage through the retention and refurbishment of the existing industrial building; Testing and maximising the utilisation of the existing structure and the implementation of a 7m structural grid within the new extension to optimise steel framework.

A great night was had by all and we look forward to continuing our working relationship with DesignID.
